COMMERCIAL AND DOMESTIC FIRE STOPPING INSTALLATION
Protecting Lives and Property using Fire Doors and Fire Stopping is at the forefront of our minds; that’s why we tailor each Fire Protection method to the needs of our customer.
Fire Doors and Fire Stopping protection is required in all kinds of buildings: office buildings, factories, public buildings and flats.

Fire Stopping Solutions are designed to restore the continuous fire-resistance of wall or floor assemblies, impeding the spread of fire by filling the openings in them with fire-resistant materials. Concept Fire Protection carry out fire compartmentation surveys, design and implement any works required to ensure people and property are protected.
WHY IS FIRE STOPPING SO IMPORTANT?
Fire Stopping is a critical safety measure implemented in buildings to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and heat through openings and penetrations in walls, floors, and ceilings. This process involves using various materials and techniques to seal these gaps, ensuring that a fire is contained within a specific area and does not spread uncontrollably throughout the structure. Effective fire stopping helps maintain the integrity of fire-rated barriers and plays a vital role in protecting both property and lives by providing valuable time for occupants to evacuate and for firefighters to respond.
WHEN SHOULD FIRE DOORS BE USED?
Fire doors are intended to withstand the spread of fire for a specified period of time, typically a minimum of 30 minutes.

If other routes are impacted by fire effects, people will have enough time to evacuate the building by taking an escape route.

Fire doors are part of a building’s Passive Fire Protection System, an essential requirement for all public buildings, offices and factories.
They are also a requirement in certain domestic situations, such as:
-
in flats,
-
where a door leads into an integral garage, or
-
in any dwelling where there is a second floor ‘habitable’ room, such as houses with loft conversions or a ‘room in the roof’.

Concept Fire Protection are specialists in the Design, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Fire Doors and Fire Stopping Systems in-line with the BS 9990:2015 Regulations.

Regular Testing and Maintenance is also required, which we can also takeover.
LEGAL OBLIGATION FOR BUSINESSES
The legal obligations requiring businesses to install passive fire protection apply to existing buildings, new builds and residential, or non-residential premises.

The Building Regulations 2010, Fire Safety, Approved Document B. Requirement B3 states:

“Where reasonably necessary to inhibit the spread of fire within the building, measures shall be taken, to an extent appropriate to the size and intended use of the building, comprising either or both of the following –
(a) sub-division of the building with fire-resisting construction;
(b) installation of suitable automatic fire suppression systems.
The building shall be designed and constructed so that the unseen spread of fire and smoke within concealed spaces in its structure and fabric is inhibited.”
Requirement 10.2 of the Building Regulations also states that fire stopping, or sealing, is applied to joints and openings between fire-separating elements. This refers to pipes, cables or conduits.
